ताइपे/बीजिंग। चीन के ताइवान के हुलिएन (near Hualien) के पास समुद्री क्षेत्र में बुधवार को बीजिंग समयानुसार सुबह 7:58 बजे 7.3 तीव्रता का भूकंप (earthquake) आया और इसके बाद कई झटके महसूस किये गये। चीन भूकंप नेटवर्क केंद्र (CENC) ने यह जानकारी दी। सीईएनसी द्वारा जारी एक रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि भूकंप का केंद्र (epicenter of the earthquake) 23.81 डिग्री उत्तरी अक्षांश और 121.74 डिग्री पूर्वी देशांतर पर 12 किमी की गहराई पर मापा गया।

प्राकृतिक संसाधन मंत्रालय (Ministry of Natural Resources) के चेतावनी केंद्र ने भूकंप के बाद सुनामी (tsunami) के लिए रेड अलर्ट जारी किया है, जिसमें कहा गया कि भूकंप के केंद्र के आसपास के पानी में सुनामी आ सकती है, जिससे ताइपे और हुलिएन के पूर्व सहित तटीय क्षेत्रों में विनाशकारी प्रभाव आने की आशंका है।

ताइपे में ‘शिन्हुआ’ के पत्रकारों को तीव्र झटके महसूस हुए और उन्होंने बताया कि इमारतें एक मिनट से अधिक समय तक लगातार हिलती रहीं। पत्रकारों के अपार्टमेंट भवन में लिफ्टों का संचालन बंद कर दिया गया। स्थानीय मीडिया रिपोर्टों के अनुसार ताइवान के विभिन्न हिस्सों में तेज झटके महसूस किए गए, जिससे ताइपे की मेट्रो प्रणाली को परिचालन रोकना पड़ा।

ताइवान की मौसम विज्ञान एजेंसी ने बताया कि बुधवार सुबह 7:58 बजे 15.5 किमी की गहराई पर 7.2 तीव्रता का भूकंप आया। भूकंप का केंद्र हुलिएन काउंटी सरकार से 25 किमी दक्षिण-दक्षिण पूर्व में स्थित था। हुआलिएन काउंटी में अधिकतम तीव्रता 6 तीव्रता दर्ज की गई। एक घंटे के भीतर द्वीप के हुलिएन काउंटी और इसके आस-पास के इलाकों में 4.0 से 6.0 तीव्रता के कई झटके आए।
